Equipping Artists for Climate and Community Engagement
From April 14–17, we participated in the Capabilities Clinic in Lesvos—an intensive training hosted by LATRA as part of the WATERFRONTS project. The clinic brought together artists and cultural practitioners from Sweden, Croatia, and Greece to prepare for the work that lies ahead: participatory workshops, local residencies, peer trainings, and community exhibitions.
The focus was on building practical and conceptual skills. Participants explored how to engage groups in co-creation, how to address sensitive themes like climate change and mental health in waterfront communities, how to exchange knowledge with peers, and how to set up inclusive exhibitions rooted in local narratives.
This shared learning process strengthened our collective readiness and laid the groundwork for meaningful artistic interventions that respond to both emotional and environmental challenges.
